What is Desktop Publishing? The use of a computer to create high end documents that can be printed. Specialized software is used to add copy, photos and graphics and or illustrations to produce documents such as catalogs, newsletters, brochures, books, and other publications, which are then output to a printer. A particularly important feature of desktop publishing systems is that they enable you to see on the display screen or color laser print out how the document will appear when printed. Properly speaking, desktop publishing is the technical assembly of digital files in the proper format for printing and/or internet use. In practical use, much of the "graphic design" process is also accomplished using desktop publishing and graphics software and is sometimes included in the definition of desktop publishing.
